Sony Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II’s prices in Malaysia revealed
Sony announced a pretty impressive videography beast in the form of the Sony Xperia 1 II, and then announced the gaming-oriented Sony Xperia 5 II. While they are both currently still unavailable in Malaysia, Sony Malaysia has listed the pricing on the local landing page for both flagships.
Both the Sony Xperia 1 II and Sony Xperia 5 II are powered by the Snapdragon 865, so the only differentiating factor are their displays, camera features and wireless charging. With a rather significant RM900 gap between the two devices, you might want to pay a bit more attention to the following table though.

With the Sony Xperia 5 II, you seem to be getting most of the features of the Sony Xperia 1 II, with the exception being the sweet 4K display, 3D iToF sensor and Qi wireless charging, for RM900 less. But on the bright side, you are getting a faster 120Hz display, and you can even record 4K 120Hz slow-mo to match your display. The latter will probably be added to the Sony Xperia 1 II sometime down the road, considering that both appear to share the same hardware across the board.
The Sony Xperia 1 II is slated to arrive in Malaysia by November, while the Xperia 5 II is scheduled to go on sale this December. For now, availability is listed as coming soon. If you aren’t limited by a budget, which device will you choose, and why? Let us know!
Pokdepinion: I think I would get the Xperia 5 II as I somewhat doubt I will need a 4K display. But then again, I do love my wireless charging…
