Sony XPERIA 5 V Now Available In Malaysia

In a rather silent fashion, Sony Malaysia has officially launched the Xperia 5 V today – slotting itself below the flagship Xperia 1 V launched earlier this year. To recap, the company’s latest not-quite-mid-range smartphone features the new Exmor T sensor from the flagship and now runs on a more powerful dual-camera setup instead of the triple-camera setup on its predecessor.

Sticking to the usual 21:9 aspect ratio, Sony continued this design with the 6.1-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display, paired with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 8GB RAM, and 256GB of storage (and unlike virtually all flagship-class smartphones out there, you can put a microSD card in it). Speaking of features it has over other mainstream brands – the 3.5mm headphone jack stays on, and it’s also notch-free, keeping the front-facing camera in a thin bezel instead.

Despite its relatively small size, Sony has chucked in a 5,000mAh battery into the Xperia 5 V, which the company claims can last a full day with 20% reduced power consumption. The 30W wired fast charging provides 0-50% charge in 30 minutes.

You’ll be able to get the Xperia 5 V in just one color, black, here in Malaysia – with the price of RM4,999.

Pokdepinion: That is quite the price premium.
