TCL has launched the TCL 50 PRO NXTPAPER 5G and TCL 50 NXTPAPER 5G smartphones, the “NXTPAPER” part being the company’s paper-like display technology that optimizes viewing comfort and adapting to various lighting conditions, while reducing blue light exposure and glare.
TCL 50 NXTPAPER Series
The NXTPAPER technology also offers a unique feature in what the company calls Max Ink Mode, which can be triggered by the NXTPAPER side key. This essentially turns the phone into an e-reader with grayscale colors and basic functionalities, and in turn you get up to 7 days of battery off a single charge. If you’re not looking for dumbing down your smartphone for maximum endurance, there’s also Color Paper Mode and Ink Paper Mode that renders the screen in e-ink formats in color and monochrome, respectively.
Both models sport a 6.8-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate; camera features include a 32MP front camera on the Pro variant and a 108MP rear camera on both models. Speaking of which, the Pro also offers 512GB of storage and can be optioned with a Flipcase and T-Pen upon purchase.
For availability, the TCL 50 PRO NXTPAPER 5G will be available from December 12, 2024, at RM1,199 on TCL Mobile Malaysia’s official Lazada and Shopee stores, and through authorized dealers; no pricing has been announced for the standard model at the time of this writing.
Pokdepinion: A very unique display for sure, and I’d imagine battery life benefits from this as well.
