Lenovo recently announced its new Tab Plus Gen 2 as the successor to the Tab Plus tablet, now powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset and launches with Android 16, with two OS upgrades guaranteed up to Android 18 and four years of security patches until 2030.

Look at the images above and you can probably tell the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is a rather unconventionally-designed slab of a hardware. For starters, the huge center bulge is where the bass comes out of its JBL-tuned speaker system, and there’s 9 speakers onboard this tablet that should equate to deep lows and clean highs. In fact, you can hook up this tablet’s speakers like a conventional Bluetooth speaker and play music from other connected devices.
Surrounding that is a giant flip-out 360-degree rotating kickstand that you usually find as a smartphone accessory, and in this case it works on both horizontal and vertical orientations (it’s sturdy enough to be left hanging, too). Even the power and volume buttons are located on the same surface, not on the frame a la virtually any other tablet or smartphone.
At the front, the tablet features a 12.1-inch 2.5K (2560×1600) 120Hz LCD display with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support, along with up to 800nits of panel brightness in High Brightness Mode (HBM). Front camera is a fixed-focus 8MP unit, while the rear camera is a 13MP sensor that supports autofocus, though no LED flashlight comes onboard. Dimensions are listed as 278.8 x 181.1 x 6.8mm (22.7mm with speaker bump), weighing approximately 775g.
Lenovo claims the Tab Plus Gen 2’s 10,200mAh battery supports up to 15 hours of YouTube video streaming, while 45W fast charging support allows it to be topped up in a reasonably short amount of time. The tablet is compatible with the Lenovo Tab Pen Plus and Lenovo Wireless Keyboard (both sold separately). Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and a USB-C 2.0 port, with a microSD card slot supporting up to 2TB of expandable storage.
Available in Celestial White color, the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 will be available at Lenovo Exclusive Stores in Malaysia from September 2026, starting from RM2,099; memory and storage configurations include 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+256GB options.
