Toshiba (now under TVS REGZA corporation after division spin-off) has highlighted its advancements in enhancing the picture and audio quality through its REGZA Intelligence platform, which includes a set of AI-powered features to optimize the content.

As the demand for larger screens grows, Toshiba introduced REGZA Engine ZR to maintain consistency of brightness in ultra-large displays: it features over 40,000 local dimming zones powered by current-based LED control, which can be combined with AI picture optimization to deliver greater picture quality. In similar fashion, the REGZA Engine ZRα employs AI to optimize live music show scenes, reducing halation and balancing stage lighting with performer details.

Toshiba also looks into the perspective of users searching for content, and came up with REGZA GenAI Voice Navigator, which streamlines the process by understanding natural language requests. By learning user preferences and searching across multiple platforms, it simplifies finding content, even with vague inputs like “a funny video for 30 minutes.” Additional radar sensing can enable hands-free operation, so users can simply start look for content as soon as they approach TVs.

Finally, the REGZA AI Audio Remix feature offers advanced audio separation and remixing capabilities with AI – it can separate voices from ambient sounds, which then can be adjusted without compromising natural audio characteristics. Use cases for such feature, according to the company, includes commentary for sports events or ambient noise for other types of content.

Pokdepinion: I can see Voice Navigator being a feature that will find real use in future TVs.
