The Japanese tech giant is showcasing its latest tech over at CES 2025, featuring spatial content technologies, immersive experiences, and the formal introduction of its first EV manufactured in collaboration with Honda.

During the press conference on January 6, Hiroki Totoki, President, COO, and CFO of Sony Group Corporation, outlined key developments aligned with this vision. These include new solutions aimed at enhancing ‘creative freedom’, such as a vehicle processing system and tools for spatial content creation. Sony also highlighted its efforts to expand game IPs with projects such as an anime series adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the launch of the Crunchyroll Manga app, and updates on the drama series The Last of Us season 2.

The company’s exhibition at CES emphasizes creativity and collaboration through three core phases of its vision: Creativity Unleashed, Boundaries Transcended, and Narratives Everywhere. Among the demonstrations include “PXO AKIRA”, a new way of shooting vehicle scenes at a safer environment using virtual production techniques; there’s also the “XYN” (pronounced ‘zin’) that facilitates accurate reproduction of objects, human movements, and backgrounds in real-life spaces for quick reproduction in 3D environment.
Other highlights include an immersive experience themed around the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the introduction of LEGO Horizon Adventures with a music video teaser by mxmtoon, and a proof-of-concept for location-based entertainment inspired by The Last of Us.
