While Intel has been gearing up for a big update on the laptop segment with Panther Lake, the desktop side has been relatively quiet as of late. Videocardz recently reported a new sighting of what seemed to be Arrow Lake Refresh processors bearing a new name, Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, as seen in this Geekbench entry.

Benchmarks Revealed Intel Core Ultra 200K Plus Naming For Arrow Lake Refresh Chips

This yet-to-be-known Lenovo-based system is equipped with Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus processor, featuring 24 cores in total split into 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores, with a max boost clock of 5.5GHz. If you remember, that is the same core count as the current flagship – the Core Ultra 9 285K – albeit clock speed is slightly lower. If you compare it to the logically closest sibling in the context of model number, the Core Ultra 7 265K actually comes with 4 fewer E-cores, although clock speed remained identical.

Videocardz also revealed that other model SKUs include Core Ultra 9 290K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, although the specs are not reliably confirmed at this point despite earlier claims of core counts. The report also noted that this lineup “might” see improved memory speed support, up to 7200MT/s. Currently, Arrow Lake desktop processors are rated for 6400MT/s, where anything beyond this figure is considered an overclock.

At this point, it’s hard to say how far the development of Arrow Lake Refresh lineup has progressed, as this is the first known sighting of the refreshed lineup with a new name for it. Given that this won’t change the fundamental architecture of the CPU, don’t expect it to be a big upgrade as far as gaming is concerned – where AMD is reportedly working on an even faster processor for this purpose.

Pokdepinion: At least this is better than the 14th Gen refresh which did almost nothing, in hindsight.
