Aside from the introduction of Intel B860 and H810 motherboards, MSI has also unveiled its latest series of AMD motherboards for Ryzen processors. The B850 represents mainstream mid-range systems with PCIe 5.0 support for M.2 and (optionally) GPU, while the B840 supersedes A620 as the new budget lineup for Team Red (and remains the sole lineup without CPU overclocking support).

While this launch mainly focuses on the introduction of mainstream AMD chipsets, MSI has opted to co-launch select new X870E motherboards. This includes the MPG X870E EDGE TI WIFI and MPG B850 EDGE TI WIFI for the premium MPG series, while the mainstream MAG series sees the debut of MAG X870E TOMAHAWK WIFI, MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI and MAG B850M MORTAR WIFI. On the less-gamery side of things, MSI also introduces two new PRO Series lineups, the PRO B850 and PRO B840, designed for business and general use.

Motherboards in this lineup also get Wi-Fi 7 and 5GbE LAN for connectivity, though unlike the Intel B860 counterparts, no Thunderbolt / USB4 support here – instead, you get USB 3.2 20Gbps (Gen 2×2) as per the base specifications for AMD B850 motherboards. For power delivery, top models come equipped with 12-stage 80A VRM for CPUs, while a supplemental PCIe power connector is advertised to handle 2.5x more power excursions on PCIe/GPU slots to enhance stability.

All newly-launched motherboards also include the latest EZ DIY features such as the EZ M.2 Shield Frozr II for tool-less SSD installation, the EZ PCIe Release for easy graphics card removal, and the EZ Antenna that does away with the locking screws for its coaxial connectors to simplify the installation process.

Pokdepinion: Connectivity features may be one of the highlights for this launch.
