The Esports World Cup (EWC) has announced the 2027 EWC Qualifier Program, a new partner initiative within the Road to EWC that expands qualifying pathways for tournament organizers and local esports communities around the world. The program targets 1.8 million players across more than 400 events in 2027, and applications are now open for organizers, venues, and operators looking to join officially.
The program builds on the existing Road to EWC structure, which connects publisher-led leagues, international tournaments, and regional qualifiers under one global championship. The new program introduces two partner-operated routes designed to bring both established competitions and grassroots events into that pathway.
2027 EWC Qualifier Program Routes
The first route, EWC Direct Qualifiers, expands the existing connection between established esports tournaments and the Road to EWC. Organizers retain their event’s identity and local commercial opportunities while meeting EWC and publisher competitive standards; players at these events earn an official pathway to the Esports World Cup.
The second route, EWC Satellite Last Chance Qualifiers (SLCQs), is a new entry point aimed at grassroots participation. Local tournament organizers, federations, associations, cyber cafes, universities, esports venues, and gaming festivals can apply to connect existing competitions or establish new ones. SLCQs will initially cover Chess, Counter-Strike 2, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, and Street Fighter 6, with additional game titles to be announced later.
In this pathway, Esports Foundation (EWC organizer) will provide marketing support, and winners earn guaranteed entry into the relevant EWC Last Chance Qualifier tournaments the following summer, where they compete for a place at the EWC Main Event. Accommodation and visa support for winners is also included.
Applications for EWC Direct Qualifiers and Satellite LCQs are open now on official website and will close on 20 December 2026; tournament organizers can submit applications and request further details via official email contacts for Satellite LCQs. Additional details on Direct Qualifier partners, participating tournaments, and qualification places will be announced as the Road to EWC 2027 develops.
Pokdepinion: The open qualifier is going to be chaotic for sure.
