Top 8 SEA Football Clubs Announced To Compete In Champions eFootball Tournament

From September 9 to October 7, 2021, the best eight Southeast Asian football clubs from seven countries will compete for the title of champion in the inaugural regional eFootball tournament, Champions eFootball (CeF).

The confirmed participating teams in the eFootball competition include:

  • Johor Darul Ta’zim FC from Malaysia
  • Persib Bandung from Indonesia
  • Tampines Rovers FC from Singapore
  • Buriram United FC from Thailand
  • Chonburi FC from Thailand
  • Nagaworld FC from Cambodia
  • United City FC from the Philippines
  • Ho Chi Minh City FC from Vietnam

Champions eFootball is a major esports circuit in which professional football clubs from across the area compete. By competing on an international scale, the competition aims to foster collaboration between esports talent and professional football clubs.

The teams will compete on KONAMI’s eFootball PES 2021 Season Update for PlayStation 4 for the title and combined prize money of USD9,000 (RM37,989). The competition will be live-streamed on CeF’s official Facebook and Youtube channels for five weeks starting on September 9. While the Elite category will be the focus of the tournament, the Star category is designed to entertain and give lighthearted content for fans of all ages.

Champions eFootball intends to organise a local tournament for qualification into the competition for the 2022 season in collaboration with several football leagues in the region. In addition, CeF winners are likely to engage in a similar competition against European football clubs.

Pokdepinion: Looking forward to watching this tournament play out. While I’m not really a fan of Johor FC (GO PENANG FC), I’m gonna be supporting them as Malaysia’s representative in the tournament.
