Honor of Kings has been named Google Play Best Game of 2024 in Southeast Asia, covering Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Following its launch earlier this year, the game has rapidly gained popularity and has since received various content updates, along with the competitive scene that sees teams battle it out in various tournaments throughout the year.

The game has seen over 50 million downloads since its global release, with developers opted to prioritize localized content for players in various regions. This includes Malaysia’s campaign that featured badminton legend Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei as a skin, as well as the Silat-themed skins representing local cultures; Indonesian players also get to help in designing the Garuda Khageswara hero that will be released in early next year.

On the esports front, Honor of Kings has hosted major tournaments throughout the year that included Invitational Series Season 1 in Istanbul, with Vivo Keyd Stars taking the championship; while Season 2 was held in Malaysia with LGD Malaysia (now known as Black Shrew Esports) emerged victorious. The Riyadh Invitational Midseason (as part of Esports World Cup) saw China’s KPL Dream Team claim the US$3m prize pool, and concluding the year is the Honor of Kings Championship hosted in Jakarta, where Black Shrew Esports claimed the top honor for year 2024.
