CDPR Moves On From Cyberpunk 2077, Though Minor Updates May Continue
It’s been a little over three years since Cyberpunk 2077’s (admittedly disastrous) release in December 2020 – many patches and a major update later, the game has regained some audience, with praises given to the Phantom Liberty DLC in particular.
In fairness to CD Projekt Red, the developer of the title, it’s very rare to see a turnaround like this. Another example is No Man’s Sky: that game took a longer time to amend its flaws and finally have a decent end product for its players. While there have been two minor updates delivered since the 2.0 release (which introduces the DLC and game overhaul), CP2077 Game Director Gabe Amatangelo has confirmed that the studio is “done” with the game.
“Yes. We’re done,” – this is the exact quote Amatangelo gave to Game File’s Stephen Totil0 in a recent interview. However, that doesn’t mean the game is forever laid to rest just yet. He says new but minor improvements may still come, as long as it doesn’t meaningfully interfere with “other work” (we assume it’s their future projects).
“It’s possible that there’s some other little thing that comes in here or there, just because, as you’re kind of messing around with stuff, sometimes you discover something that is not a high risk. Or it’s easy to integrate. Or, you know, some developers have some bandwidth,” he continued. “Then they bring it to me. I’m like, ‘All right, well, I trust you that it isn’t going to mess with your other work… so let’s give it a go.”

Pokdepinion: For what it’s worth, CDPR has done a great job for the game.
