Crucial’s DDR5 RAM To Come With 12GB Capacity Per Module
Traditionally, RAM capacities have always been numbers from the power of 2 – think 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, and so on. In the DDR5 generation, non-binary modules that feature 24GB or 48GB per module have begun to enter the consumer market, and now a third non-binary capacity option is set to arrive soon.
As spotted by @momomo_us with the listing on Amazon UK, Crucial is set to release the new 12GB SO-DIMM DDR5 modules by the end of this March. This particular model supports up to speeds of 5600MT/s, although it’ll work with laptops running on slower 5200MT/s or 4800MT/s speeds, which is fairly common even on recent models.
Having a 12GB module available should serve as a middle ground for those who like a bit more than 16GB RAM but don’t want to go all the way to 32GB, which can cost quite a bit more. A pair of 12GB modules will form a total of 24GB RAM, which can be ideal for those who lean towards heavy multi-tasking but don’t need the excess capacity.
With this listing, one can expect other memory vendors will release their offerings down the line – though it’s unclear when Malaysia may see these new units arrive.

Pokdepinion: Three years ago I might’ve gone with this option. Still, 32GB of DDR4 is nice to have.
