AMD has just introduced a new GPU, though no formal announcement was made for a reason: the new Radeon RX 9060 is exclusive to OEM and SI builders, meaning it will not be available for the DIY market to purchase as a standalone unit. The chipmaker only mentioned the new GPU in its latest driver update changelog.

All of the specs have been revealed via its product specification page, and here’s the difference between the GPU and its closest sibling, the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB. For starters, the core count is reduced from 2048 (32 CUs) to 1792 (28 CUs), the memory speed is reduced to 288GB/s (18Gbps per module), and it also gets a power reduction down to just 132 watts. This effectively reduces the maximum clock speed down to 2.99GHz, lower than the XT’s 3.13GHz; however, AMD didn’t list the game clock for this particular GPU.

Similar to the RX 9060 XT, the display outputs are limited to three in total, which consists of two DisplayPort 2.1 outputs and a single HDMI 2.1 output. For reference, most GPUs today feature four (3x DP + 1x HDMI) display outputs, with some featuring five (although only four can be active at the same time). In terms of performance, we can only refer to first-party numbers – in this case, AMD claims the GPU can hit 108 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Mirage at 1080p Ultra, or 153 FPS in DOOM Eternal with Ray Tracing enabled.

As mentioned, this new GPU is not available for purchase as a standalone GPU, so expect to find it in pre-built PCs from select OEMs and system builders. With some luck, these GPU may flow into the second-hand market should the owners of said PCs opt to upgrade; alternatively, AMD may open these GPUs to the DIY market at a later date if they chose to do so.
