Steelseries Officially Acquires KontrolFreek – More Gaming Products Coming?
Whenever you hear of business acquisitions in the tech and games industry, it’s usually a significant one. Today’s no exception either as Steelseries has officially announced their acquisition of the gaming peripherals and accessories maker, Kontrolfreek.
Steelseries Officially Acquires KontrolFreek
The folks over at Steelseries have officially announced their acquisition of Kontrolfreek, a well-known gaming peripherals and accessories maker. This is the 2nd biggest acquisition made by the company after A-Volute, the creators of Nahimic.
For those of you who aren’t aware, KontrolFreek is best known for their Performance Thumbsticks and Precision Rings for gamepads, most notably the DualShock 4 for PS4 and Joy Cons for the Nintendo Switch. They do make similar products for other platforms as well.
Interestingly, the acquisition of KontrolFreek will help bolster Steelseries’ presence as the former has a community of over 4 million gamers. Apart from that, they’ve also been endorsed by notable Esports figures and content creators like FaZe Clan, OpTic, Ali-A, and more.
For now, no details on how much the acquisition was worth, nor have both companies announced anything new aside from this. However, we do expect there to be new gaming-focused products coming in 2021 as a result of this. We’ll report more on this as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.
Pokdepinion: I wonder if there will be more new Steelseries gaming products coming soon as a result of this acquisition. Would like them to have a more diversified business portfolio, that’s for sure.
