We have already covered a patch that will improve performance in Cyberpunk 2077 on AMD Ryzen processors previously, and this little fix is reportedly improving performance for most systems. Do try it at your own risk though as SuperDaddy tried it on his personal system and it just caused crashes and BSODs for him.

The “fix” entails a simple change in one of the config files in Cyberpunk 2077. According to u/ThePhoenixRoyal, the Redittor who discovered it, Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t allocate sufficient system RAM and GPU VRAM for the game, resulting in poor performance. By default, Cyberpunk 2077 allocates the same 1.5GB system RAM and 3GB VRAM on PC as it does on last-gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, despite PCs today often packing a lot more RAM and VRAM.

To apply this Cyberpunk 2077 fix, you will need to edit the memory_pool_budgets.csv file to better take advantage of your specifications. Depending on whether you got your game on Steam, Epic Games or GOG, you will have to look in the following folders:

  • Steam: …\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\engine\config
  • GOG: …\GOG Galaxy\Games\Cyberpunk 2077\engine\config
  • Epic Games: …\Epic Games\Cyberpunk 2077\engine\config

It is recommended to change the “PoolCPU” value to half your total CPU memory, and make sure to reserve at least 4GB for Windows. Meanwhile for the “PoolGPU” value you can go ahead and key in the full amount of VRAM of your GPU.

For my Ryzen 5 3600 and Radeon RX 5700 XT system, I found zero benefit from changing the values. It is reportedly more beneficial on older systems with the 4th Gen Intel Core desktop CPUs than on systems with the latest AMD Ryzen processors. And as mentioned earlier, it might actually cause crashes and even BSODs, so do it at your own risk.

Pokdepinion: Well it seems like Cyberpunk 2077 entails a lot of real-life “hacking” in addition to in-game hacking.
