Rockstar has finally released the long-anticipated Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition digitally for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The trilogy remasters three of Rockstar’s acclaimed GTA series namely Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and is a celebration of GTA III’s 20th anniversary.

Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition includes GTA V-inspired modern controls, graphical and environmental upgrades such as higher resolution textures, enhanced lighting and weather, and more, bringing the iconic locations of Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas to the latest platforms, honouring the experience of the original titles while enhancing them for a whole new generation of players.

Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, originally produced by Rockstar Games, has been ported to modern platforms by Grove Street Games utilising Unreal Engine to make these classics more colourful and immersive than ever.

All three games in Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition include platform-specific improvements such as Gyro aiming and touch screen camera zooming, pans, and menu selections on the Nintendo Switch, 4K-resolution support with up to 60 FPS performance on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X systems, and NVIDIA DLSS support on PC.

Grand Theft Auto III

Everything begins in Liberty City. Grand Theft Auto III, first released on the 22nd of October, 2001, pioneered our approach to creating highly immersive and detailed, fully 3D open worlds, delivering unprecedented freedom and nonlinear gameplay combined with rich, cinematic storytelling, alongside the series’ now-signature radio stations, each with a thoughtfully curated playlist and DJ host to match.

Grand Theft Auto Vice City

The story of Tommy Vercetti and his pursuit for vengeance in Grand Theft Auto Vice City perfected this method, giving heightened levels of realism, detail, and humour as it transported players back to the 1980s and into a neon-soaked tropical town teeming with excess.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas expanded on these ideas by adding three unique cities, including the original Los Santos, as well as a slew of additional features as Carl ‘CJ’ Johnson battles the streets and corrupt cops to save his family in a loving homage to the ’90s.

Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is available from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Nintendo eShop, and the Rockstar Games Launcher. The Trilogy will also be released physically on the 7th of December for Xbox Series X and S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4, and will be available on iOS and Android in the first half of 2022.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas – The Definitive Edition is now available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers, while Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition will be available on PlayStation Now on December 7. Pokdepinion: I’m definitely picking this up. A bit disappointed that it’s not on Steam though. I hope it does pop up there in the future.
