How to Prevent Genshin Impact Account From Being Hacked

miHoYo recently held a Q&A session with the Genshin Impact development team, where they answered several questions from players across the globe. One of them hints at a possible 2FA integration for the game to bolster account security.

According to the latest Q&A session, miHoYo talked about adding new measures to bolster the security of user accounts, which strongly hints at the implementation of a 2FA system (two-factor authentication).

If true, this would most likely point at the security feature coming sometime in mid-June 2021 as part of Genshin Impact update 1.6. With that being said, certain features listed in previous Q&A sessions ended up coming earlier than expected so if we’re lucky, we might see sooner rather than later. For now, we can only wait.

Given the sheer popularity of Genshin Impact, it’s no surprise that there are many hackers and scammers out looking for their next victim in the game. As such, any added security measure would be a huge plus for everyone, and 2FA seems like the most logical next step given how convenient it is. With that being said, people should still be extra wary when communicating with strangers online no matter the reason.

Genshin Impact is currently available for free on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and PC. A Nintendo Switch port of the game is expected to launch sometime later.

Pokdepinion: I’m honestly surprised as to why 2FA wasn’t added to the game very early on. It’s not hard to implement so I’m guessing the developers just wanted to get the game out as soon as they can.
