Ubisoft has announced Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics during gamescom’s Opening Night Live, with the new franchise entry positioned as a new single-player, turn-based tactical game set in the Rainbow Six universe.
For the first time in the franchise, players take on the role of Six, commander of the Rainbow unit, leading squads of up to four operators through missions that span strategic preparation at headquarters and tactical execution in the field. The game is built around planning, coordinated breaches and in-mission adaptation, aiming to retain the core identity of the Rainbow Six series while introducing a new format for its operators.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics

Developed by Ubisoft Paris, Rainbow Six Tactics unfolds alongside the ongoing Rainbow Six Siege timeline, centered on a new global threat that pushes Team Rainbow to operate at a broader strategic scale. From headquarters, players assess intelligence, assign operators, upgrade their base and make decisions that shape each mission before deployment. Once in the field, turn-based encounters require combining operator abilities, reconnaissance tools, gadgets and destructible environments to out-maneuver enemy forces.
The gameplay loop moves between global command and tactical execution, covering mission selection, operator preparation, turn-based encounter resolution and a return to headquarters for training and intel review ahead of the next operation. Players will draw from a roster of 15 operators sourced from Rainbow Six Siege, building four-operator squads suited to different playstyles, with each operator offering distinct abilities, gadgets and skill trees.

The campaign includes dozens of missions across various global locations, covering objectives such as hostage rescue, bomb disposal and target elimination. Players can break down walls to create new sightlines, remove cover or open alternate entry points as missions progress. The Breach feature serves as a key tactical moment, allowing all operators to act simultaneously in a synchronized assault that combines abilities with environmental destruction, breaking from the standard turn-based structure.
Rainbow Six Tactics will be available on Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Blacknut, and PC through Ubisoft Connect, Steam and the Epic Games Store; players can wishlist on PC (via Ubisoft Connect, Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Pokdepinion: Turn-based Rainbow Six sounds like a fresh spin – curious how the Breach mechanic plays out.
