Hogwarts Legacy PS4 and Xbox One Versions Delayed Again

Hogwarts Legacy, the highly anticipated video game set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, has been delayed once again for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The last-gen versions were originally scheduled to release in April 2023, but now have a new launch date.

Delay of Hogwarts Legacy Raises Concerns for Players on Older Hardware

Hogwarts Legacy fans on last-gen consoles will have to wait a bit longer before they can attend the famous school of witchcraft and wizardry. The much-anticipated game was released a month ago, but players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were left disappointed when the game’s developers, Avalanche Software, announced that the last-gen console versions would be delayed again.

Originally set to release in April 2023, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts Legacy are now expected to launch on 5th May 2023. The delay is expected to address the technical challenges that the game faces on older hardware. The game was first announced in 2020, and fans eagerly awaited its release. However, the developers have faced several challenges and delays, including the cancellation of the Nintendo Switch version.

While the game has been met with generally positive reviews, it’s not without its flaws, particularly on older hardware. One of the most significant differences between last-gen and current-gen consoles is the loading time, with the latter featuring an SSD through which data can travel much faster. As a result, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One may struggle to load some of the game’s more detailed high-fidelity areas with a lot of individual assets.

It remains to be seen how Avalanche Software will address these issues, but fans are hopeful that the extra time will result in a more polished and enjoyable experience.

Pokdepinion: For those waiting for the last-gen console versions, it’s advisable to wait a few more days post-release to see how the game is running and whether any sacrifices have been made in terms of graphical fidelity. My biggest concern on running this game using the PS4 or Xbox One would be the load times.
