HoYoverse showcased its RPG titles Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai: Star Rail at The Game Awards 2024, offering glimpses into their latest developments – the event featured the debut of Astra Yao, a prominent character in Zenless Zone Zero, and a preview of the next destination in Honkai: Star Rail, Amphoreus.

A quick recap: Zenless Zone Zero, an urban fantasy action RPG set in the last surviving city of New Eridu, was released globally in July and has since achieved significant milestones, including 50 million downloads within its first three days. The game is preparing for its fourth version update, “A Storm of Falling Stars,” launching on December 18, which will include gameplay enhancements and new content for players.
At The Game Awards, Zenless Zone Zero premiered a trailer spotlighting Astra Yao, a celebrated figure in New Eridu. The trailer showcases Astra navigating Sixth Street, performing at a grand opera house, and encountering a mysterious character – as for the game itself, expect new storylines setting the stage for developments in 2025.
Meanwhile, Honkai: Star Rail, a space fantasy RPG released in April 2023, continues to explore interstellar adventures blending mythology and science fiction. The game’s latest update, Version 2.7 titled “A New Venture on the Eighth Dawn,” launched on December 4.
During the event, a new trailer revisited key moments from the game, including the events in Belobog, the Xianzhou Luofu, and Penacony, before unveiling Amphoreus, the next destination for the Astral Express. The trailer introduced Castorice, a new character linked to the Eternal Land and its themes of mortality – players can expect to meet her sometime in 2025.
