Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest instalment in the Monster Hunter series, will be released globally on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Ahead of the official launch, an Open Beta Test will be available for players to try the game (and catch any bugs, as with the nature of beta testing).
Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test
The Open Beta Test will run from November 1, 11:00AM until November 4, 10:59AM (Malaysian Time) – players can access the test via PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam for free, while PlayStation Plus members will be granted an early access to the test that begins on Oct 29, 11:00AM to Oct 31, 10:59AM.
Capcom also released new game information during the Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, including a new field called the Oilwell Basin. This area features oil slicks that occasionally ignite into “Firespring,” creating intense flames. The region is home to Azuz, a crafting village known for refining oils and processing bones and ores.
Several new monsters were also revealed, including the mysterious Black Flame and the fanged beast Ajarakan, which becomes active during the Firespring phenomenon. Additionally, the brute wyvern Rompopolo was introduced, known for dispersing toxic gas and causing explosions in oil-rich areas.
The Open Beta Test will feature content such as character creation, first peek into story mode, and a Doshaguma Hunt quest; players will also have the option to play multiplayer by connecting with others online or utilizing NPC support hunters. Only character creation data will carry over to the final version of the game, Capcom noted.
