HoYoverse has announced Zenless Zone Zero (which just celebrated its first year anniversary) will be rolling out Update 2.1 “The Impending Crash of Waves” on July 16 – the update introduces new regions, characters, and seasonal events as part of the game’s ongoing story and content expansion.
Zenless Zone Zero Update 2.1
The latest Zenless update adds Sailume Bay and Fantasy Resort as new explorable areas. Sailume Bay, located beneath Failume Heights, will serve as the central location for Chapter 2 of Season 2. The area will host a safety investigation conducted by Porcelumex to address disruptions caused by the Exaltists. The storyline introduces Alice Thymefield, a member of the prominent Thymefield family, who joins the Spook Shack faction. Fantasy Resort, a once-thriving tourist destination, becomes the backdrop for a seasonal storyline featuring tropical environments, mini-games, and mystery elements.
This update also adds two new Agents: Ukinami Yuzuha is an S-Rank Physical Support Agent whose tanuki companion Kama assists in combat by enhancing Anomaly Buildup capabilities. Alice Thymefield joins as an S-Rank Physical Anomaly Agent who uses blade techniques and accumulates Blade Etiquette to execute high-damage assaults. A new S-Rank Bangboo support unit Miss Esme will also be introduced with skills that restore Energy or HP, and previously released agents Miyabi and Yanagi will also appear in rerun banners.
Players will participate in various summer-themed events to aid in the restoration of Fantasy Resort – the activities include surfing obstacle courses, yacht-based shooting challenges, and island tours. A new fishing system introduces additional species and updated mechanics, and summer-themed outfits will be available for Yuzuha, Alice, and the player characters as well. Version 2.1 will also include new gameplay modes such as “En-Nah” Chess Legend, a Bangboo Auto Battler with a PVP component, and a revamped Simulated Battle Trial with a revised scoring system.
