Or the honOreo 8 Pro?

The honor 8 Pro is getting the Android Oreo update! The news was just confirmed by honor Malaysia themselves today. The new Android Oreo update will bring in new features such as a ‘picture-in-picture’ mode (which acts like the split screen function already available on Android), more control over your notifications, the brand new Autofill feature (which remembers your login on your favourite apps) and a whole slew of other security features.

Also, background activity of the apps users seldom use will be minimised in Android Oreo, complementing the honor 8 Pro’s EMUI 5.1 which utilises Huawei’s machine learning algorithm which learns the user’s behaviour and habits. For example, if you tend to open a certain type during a certain time of day, the machine learning algorithm can anticipate this and pre load the particular app for you based on your behavioural information it has collected.

Here’s what George Zhao, Head of honor Malaysia had to say about the Android Oreo coming to the honor 8 Pro.

We are working hard to introduce the smarter, faster and more powerful Android 8.0 Oreo OS to our honor 8 Pro for Malaysian fans and customers alike. With the introduction of the Android 8.0 Oreo, we are confident that our flagship model will be even more grounded to meet the performance needs of today’s power users and gamers by delivering to them extreme speed.

The honor 8 Pro is rocking Huawei’s super fast Kirin 960 chipset together with 6GB RAM. Packed together with the powerful Mali G71 GPU that enables the honor 8 Pro to run heavy 3D games with relative ease makes this a beast of a device. Not to mention the huge 4000mAh battery. The Android Oreo update should improve the overall performance of the device as well, which honor Malaysia says will include a double tap to wake gesture, and a faster charging speed for the honor 8 Pro’s large battery.

No idea yet as to when the update will roll out to the aforementioned device but we’ll keep you posted. The honor 8 Pro is available now online at vMall for a retail price of RM 1,999.
