5/10Dota 2 and CS GO fans were treated to a show they had the chance of seeing the best eSport teams in Malaysia battle it out for the title of winner for the ROG Masters, Malaysian Qualifiers 2017! The tournament which was held at One Utama during the Malaysian Day weekend, certainly showcased that the eSports scene is getting bigger and more serious this year.

For those of you who doesn’t know, The ROG Masters is currently in its second year and is an event that is fully funded by the Republic Of Gamers and Intel. It is an international eSports tournament, which focuses on Dota 2 and CS GO in general.
For the CS GO side of the tournament, Fire Dragoon Esports were crowned champions which they won a sum of RM10000.1st Runner up was won by JYP Gaming and Virtual Genesis filled up the 2nd Runner up spot.
Team Highground took top honors as they were number one at the Dota 2 tournament of the event. They took home a whopping RM25000 of cash prize. At second place, it was Team 818′ Reverse Heaven who ended up as 1st Runners up and Team Dota Hero subsequently occupied 2nd runners up spot.
Winners of both Dota 2 and CS GO ROG Masters Malaysian Qualifiers 2017 will be representing Malaysia to compete at the ROG Masters 2017 APAC Qualifiers which will be held at SMX Convention Center Manila, Philippines, on the 26th-29th October 2017.
Subsequently, the ROG Masters 2017 International Grand Final will be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC), Malaysia, on the 7th-10th of December.
Pokdepinion: Yeah, the eSports scene in Malaysia is certainly getting bigger year by year. Certainly a chance for the public to go against the ‘pros’ in the gaming scene. I hope that they expand the game list for the tournament and add more variety.
