Battlefield V saw an update to improve performance when DirectX Raytracing (DXR) was enabled, and gains of up to 50% were achieved. But still, it wasn’t enough. Battlefield V’s latest update adds Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), which ups frames rates by up to 40% even when DXR is enabled.

DLSS leverages NVIDIA Turing’s Tensor cores to output high resolution anti-aliased graphics. The Tensor cores also help with high quality upscaling, allowing you to achieve much higher frame rates than traditional anti-aliasing will offer. The neural network has been trained to optimize image quality, without having to sacrifice the performance.

So what does this mean to you, as a gamer? Basically what it means is that you get to enjoy higher frame rates when you have DXR on, and more frames per second is always a good thing.

Have you downloaded the latest patch to enable DLSS in Battlefield V? Do note that it is only available above QHD (1440p) so if you are gaming on 1080p, you won’t get to enjoy DLSS. But then again at 1080p you aren’t really making the most use of your GeForce RTX cards anyway…
