It’s been about 20 years since the game launched and now, Blizzard is doing something special to celebrate the StarCraft 20th Anniversary.

Blizzard Celebrating StarCraft 20th Anniversary

It has been nearly 2 decades since the popular real-time strategy game StarCraft released for PC. This was the beginning of an insane Korean marriage ritual where the men had to defeat the fiance’s father in order to marry her.

Jokes and memes aside, to celebrate this milestone, players can garner in-game rewards across all of Blizzard Entertainment’s current games throughout the month, ending the festivities with an anniversary stream.

Starting on March 6th 2018, logging into StarCraft: RemasteredStarCraft IIDiablo III, and Overwatch will receive these rewards:

  • StarCraft: Remastered – Commemorative 20th Anniversary UI Skin
  • StarCraft II – Special UI Skin for each race, a portrait, and decal
  • Diablo III – Battlecruiser-themed pet Dominion’s Revenge
  • Overwatch – Sarah Kerrigan Ghost skin for Widowmaker

Between March 21st and March 25th, you can play a StarCraft-themed Tavern Brawl in Hearthstone where you can acquire three Kobolds & Catacombs packs for free. From March 27th to April 7th, logging into Heroes of the Storm will grant you 20th Anniversary portraits for Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. Lastly, from March 31st to April 6th in World of Warcraft, those who salute a Zergling, Grunty, Mini Thor, Baneling, or Zeradar pet will garner the “Salute to StarCraft” Feat of Strength.

Ending the celebration will be a video feature called StarCraft is Life: A Celebration, which will be viewable on YouTube on March 31st, and the aforementioned anniversary stream, which will take place on March 30th and March 31st on Twitch.

Lastly, a short video showing how far the franchise has come since the first game launched in 1998 was released that will have you reminiscing about the long-running sci-fi series. Check out the StarCraft 20th Anniversary special video at the top of this post.

Pokdepinion: This game is almost as old as I am, how interesting. I do have fond memories watching my brother play StarCraft while I was growing up though. It’s a game that certainly stood the test of time.
