[CES2018] Acer has the New Swift 7; Redefining world’s thinnest laptop

About 14 months ago, we wrote about Acer Swift 7 and we just realized how quickly time has flown since then. Acer has refreshed the Acer Swift 7 first with its codename SF714-51T. Sitting at 8.98mm thickness, the new Acer Swift 7 is an ultraportable machine powered by the Intel Core i7 processor, all-day battery life and Intel XMM 4G LTE connection.

Slim is only the beginning of the Acer Swift 7, as the highlight has to be its built-in XMM 4G LTE connectivity that will keep you always connected, wirelessly. On top of the nano SIM card slot, the Swift 7 features eSIM technology, allowing download and activation of eSIM profiles. Harnessing the 802.11ac wireless with 2×2 MIMO, your internet connectivity is definitely going to be taken to a whole new level.

The Acer Swift 7 will be using a 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processor under the hood while still retaining 10 hours of battery life. 256GB of PCIe SSD will be plenty of storage with speed and 8GB LPDDR3 memory will keep things going. A fingerprint reader will let you utilize the Windows Hello too.

The Acer Swift 7 Aluminium chassis is definitely a beauty to stare at, perfect for modern work environments. The display has been upgraded to 14-inches and has a Full HD IPS with Acer Color Intelligence, protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass NBT touchscreen and touchpad – much like what you’ve seen in the recent Acer Spin 5.

Speaking about Spin series, Acer has also announced a refreshed Acer Spin 3 (SP314-51) designed for versatile productivity and entertainment. The 360° has been a signature of the Spin series and has been reinforced, allowing it to function as laptop, tablet, display or tent modes. With the refresh, the Acer Spin 3 now is equipped with 8th Gen Intel Core processor and will come with rather impressive storage options (we shall update more when the Malaysian counterparts are official). It provides 12 hours of battery life and the two front-facing speakers with Acer TrueHarmony are definitely worth catching up with. Also spotting a Full HD IPS display, this will probably the most bought laptop of the coming year.

The Acer Swift 7 will be available in North America in March with prices starting at US$1,699; and in EMEA in April with prices starting at €1,699. That roughly about RM6800 in Malaysia.
The Acer Spin 3 will be available in North America in February with prices starting at US$599; and in EMEA in January with prices starting at €649. Roughly RM2400 in Malaysia.

Pokdepinion: I love the Acer Swift 7 but the 7th Gen Intel and LPDDR3 are a bit of a downer to me. For the first time, the Acer Spin 3 is capturing more attention than the Acer Swift 7 for me.
