More details of the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti surface; ridiculously close to the GTX 1080 for a lot less money!
We have shared rumors of NVIDIA working on a GeForce GTX 1070 Ti to overcome whatever threat the AMD Vega 56 posed to the Pascal lineup. However recent leaks point to the GTX 1070 Ti not only threatening the AMD Vega 56, but also their very own GeForce GTX 1080.
Back then we were thinking of a GP104 with 2304 CUDA cores, but the recent leaks have pushed the core count to 2432 CUDA cores, just 128 short of the full 2560 of the full GP104 found in the GeForce GTX 1080. 8GB of GDDR5 memory with 8 Gbps of bandwidth is also pointed to be thrown into the mix.
It is expected to share its base clock with the GeForce GTX 1080 and its boost clock with the GeForce GTX 1070, which means clocks of 1607 MHz and 1683 MHz, respectively. The difference between base and boost clocks seems a little too small, so it remains to be seen if this will turn out to be true.
On to the most interesting part, the pricing. The GeForce GTX 1070 Ti is rumored to be priced at 3499 yuan, a cool 500 yuan (RM316.90) cheaper than the the GeForce GTX 1080 in China. With some basic overclocking, we might see the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti match or even exceed stock GeForce GTX 1080 performance levels.

Pokdepinion: The GeForce GTX 1070 Ti seems a little too good to be true, especially if it can be overclocked to offer performance similar to the GeForce GTX 1080.
Well, this is pretty interesting. If this is true, it probably will eat away the reason to buy GTX 1070, 1080 and RX Vega 56 and 64. Last time, GTX 1070 was selling for RM2000 and GTX 1080 was selling at RM2600. I wonder how they’ll price this card. :)
That’s exactly our concern too. Never has this been done before, nVidia pushing a Ti on the x70 series GPU. It also shakes the whole line-up if it suddenly performs better than 1080 because that’s not where it should belong. 1080 has to have its own supreme spot for the people who have invested their money into it.
