Huawei Nova 2 Plus is now here for RM1999; zoom dual camera setup
The Huawei Nova 2 Plus is Huawei’s latest mid-range device which packs quite a punch in the photography and audio departments, packing a new dual camera configuration, powerful 20MP selfie camera and also a slew of audio technologies to make your listening experience that much better.
Taking a step away from Huawei’s usual dual-camera setups consisting of a monochrome sensor partnered with a conventional color sensor, the Huawei Nova 2 Plus will come with a 12MP f/1.8 wide angle camera coupled with a 8MP f/2.4 zoom camera. With this configuration, the Huawei Nova 2 Plus will also deliver the popular portrait mode, with the user able to adjust the level of background blurring after a picture is taken.
Huawei has not forgotten about the selfie fanatics out there too, with a 20MP front camera boasting 3D facial recognition and skin enhancement. The high resolution hardware is backed by intelligent algorithms to make your selfies Insta-famous worthy. If the powerful beautification mode is insufficient, the Huawei Nova 2 Plus can also give your selfies a blurry background, while the 5.5″ 1080p LTPS display doubles as a smart LCD flash for great selfies regardless of your surroundings.
The audio technology in the Huawei Nova 2 Plus is what interests me the most. It seems that this is the first Huawei to feature the AptX Bluetooth codec, something which was missing in their previous flagships. This should deliver great sound even when you aren’t using the 3.5mm audio jack. If you are more of a traditionalist who prefers using wired headphones, the Chinese company partnered with Rainer Maillard, an award-winning recording engineer, to deliver a superior audio experience through a groundbreaking synergy of enhanced software and hardware. With a AK4376a DAC, Huawei Histen audio algorithm, virtual 3D surround effects, the Huawei Nova 2 Plus will deliver a premium audio experience like you have never heard from a Huawei device before.
Huawei promises a stutter-free user experience with Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.1. A Kirin 659 SoC clocked at up to 2.36 GHz powers the device with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. A 3340 mAh keeps everything running, with support for 18W fast charging. The rear fingerprint sensor is shallower at just 0.1mm deep, making it that much more intuitive to touch while also preventing dirt from collecting on the fingerprint sensor’s bezels. You won’t be getting 802.11ac WiFi with this device though.
All of that technology is packed in a 6.99mm slim metallic unibody, which will be available in three colors: Graphite Black, Prestige Gold and Aurora Blue. Want to get one for yourself? The Huawei Nova 2 Plus will be yours for just RM1999.
Pokdepinion: The Huawei Nova 2 Plus brings quite a few nice additions like AptX and also a zoom camera to the Huawei family, without breaking the bank. It is priced the same as the Honor 8 Pro though, which has a much faster Kirin 960 SoC, more RAM, AC WiFi and a larger screen. Better selfies or raw performance? Not too hard a choice there.
