[MWC2019] Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G announced with a larger battery and a higher price point
The Mi MIX 3 is one beautiful device, but it faces competition from newer flagships coming in with the Snapdragon 855. With the Mi MIX 5G, you get the beautiful ceramic slider design with all the latest hardware. Even a 5G modem.
To let you have your cake and eat it, Xiaomi shoehorned a Snapdragon 855 and a Qualcomm X50 5G modem into the Mi MIX 3 5G. They also managed to cram it with a bigger 3800 mAh battery. Why in the world didn’t Xiaomi do it with the original Mi MIX 3 beats me.
Aside from the newer chipset, modem and larger battery, the Mi MIX 3 5G is identical to the Mi MIX 3. You get a dual 12MP rear camera, a 6.39″ bezel-less display, a 24MP + 2MP selfie camera setup under the display and of course, the ceramic back.

Would you be interested in a 5G version of the Mi MIX 3? Or would you wait for the next iteration of the Mi MIX series?
Pokdepinion: Well as a Malaysian I doubt we will be seeing 5G that soon, so I don’t really mind the 5G. But why didn’t Xiaomi put the 3800 mAh battery into the Mi MIX 3 in the first place?
