New PlayStation 5 Leak Shows Potential Retail Price and It’s Kind of Expensive
Recently, we got to learn a fair amount about the upcoming Sony PlayStation 5 console. Well, it’s not officially called that but the most apt way of calling it right now is Sony’s next-gen console. The one thing that many gamers are curious about is the retail price for it. A recent leak has given us a glimpse on how much we should save up for it.
According to a leak on Pastebin, which is allegedly from a developer working on a game for the new system, we were given details on specifications and even the launch lineup. As we know from our recent post, it has 8K graphics, is powered by AMD Navi, and does have support for physical media.
The most interesting detail given is the retail price, which is said to be USD $499 (RM2,059.67) and it will be sold with a USD $100 (RM412.76) loss on Sony’s end. Selling it at a loss is no surprise as it would be a business strategy that Sony has done so in the past to get people to adopt their game systems. It’s not as expensive as the PS3’s launch price but it is noticeably more than the PS4’s one.
I know there will be a huge number of people who will find it very expensive, especially in Malaysia. Keep in mind however that we’re looking at some very beefy hardware with some real powerful performance. In fact, a high capacity SSD alone would’ve increased costs by a huge amount. 8K gaming and SSD storage for RM2,000 is a steal if you ask me. However, that RM2,000 price point is simply a rough figure taken from direct conversion. The actual price in Malaysia, as well as other regions, may differ by quite a bit.
If you’re curious about the possible launch lineup for the PS5 listed in the leak, check it out right below here:
Ps4 exclusive launch games that i know of
Gran Turismo 7 (vr)
PUBG Remaster 4k F2P with PS+ only on PS5
Last of Us 2 Remaster
Ghost of Tsushima Remaster
2-3 AAA games more + psvr2 gamesNon exclusive ps5 games 2020
Battlefield Bad Company 3
Harry Potter
GTA 6, Holiday 2020 most probably, not hearing anything ps4-related (hearing that Sony is paying huge money to secure 1-month time exclusive for ps5). Been hearing rumors about Miami and New York, so 2 big cities, but im not sure if that’s 100% true
Assassin’s Creed
Horizon 2 so far in 2021
Is this leak credible? Somewhat. It did managed to get some details right but it also got the details on the SSD wrong. Either way, we won’t be able to get 100% accurate details until Sony announces it themselves. We are expected to see the official unveiling, and possible release, in 2020. Perhaps, even at E3 2020 unless Sony is planning their own huge show next year.

Pokdepinion: I’ve already started saving up for it. Really hoping for a solid launch lineup. Do take the information with a grain of salt… or maybe a whole bag of it.
