Nokia 8.1 launch imminent? Specifications might be a tad disappointing though

The Nokia X7 launched in China a month back, but that was going to be a China exclusive. It seems that it has just been confirmed that the Nokia X7 will indeed go worldwide, but under a new name. The Nokia 8.1.

However unlike the Nokia 8 which it succeeds, the Nokia 8.1 doesn’t come with top-shelf flagship specifications. Instead, it is expected to pack only a Snapdragon 710 chipset. What have Nokia done? The camera is expected to be stellar, with a 12MP 1.4µm + 13MP rear camera setup complete with ZEISS optics. And for selfie fanatics, there is also a 20MP front facing camera.

Keeping things looking stylish is the new notched 6.18″ FHD+ PureDisplay, and a dual-tone anodized aluminium frame. Nokia has made the shift to glass backs for their recent devices, which is somewhat a letdown given the pedigree Nokia is known for in terms of durability. No matter what you tell me, glass will never be as durable as metal.

The Nokia launch event in Dubai is just around the corner, so we can expect to see the new Nokia 8.1 very soon. What do you think would be an appropriate price for the Nokia 8.1?
