NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q for laptops is more powerful than a desktop GTX 1080!

NVIDIA Max-Q is supposed to offer less performance in exchange for a lower TDP and better efficiency. So far, they have succeeded in achieving their goals, delivering really thin gaming laptops that would look right at home in a bunch of ultrabooks. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q should be a continuation to that, but with mind-blowing performance in tow too.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q has just been spotted on the FInal Fantasy XV benchmark database, scoring higher than a desktop GeForce GTX 1080. Now what that means is that it will be faster than any single-GPU laptop in the market right now! Of course, we wouldn’t be surprised to see equally mind-blowing price tags as well.

Specifications wise, we would probably be seeing a similar TU106 GPU, although NVIDIA might pull off another GTX 1070 mobile, and cram in more cores in the RTX 2070 Max-Q than the desktop version to make up for the lower clocks. GDDR6 memory is a given, and we can safely assume there will 8GB here too.

We will probably be seeing NVIDIA’s partners releasing GeForce RTX-powered gaming laptops in January at CES 2019. Meanwhile, we can start saving up for that sweet thin and light gaming laptop that will feature this beast of a GPU.
