O-fans Saying Oh Yes! To the OPPO R9s Black Edition
Black Phones Matter
Looks like the sales for the OPPO R9s Black Edition are off to a good start with OPPO fans, dubbed the O-fans, going wild over OPPO’s latest device. After OPPO unleashed the device into the wild on May 10th 2017 O-fans went into a complete frenzy. On the first day the device officially went on sale alone O-fans were seen lining up outside of OPPO Concept Stores and dealer stores across the country before opening hours, hoping to get their mits on the OPPO R9s Black Edition which they had pre-ordered weeks prior.
The original OPPO R9s became a runaway success and was incredibly popular with consumers and even mainstream media thanks to it’s successful marketing campaign that included huge stars like Lee Min-ho and Min Chen. Regarding this, Product Manager of OPPO Malaysia, Ken Ng stated,
The latest GFK data has shown that in Malaysia, the OPPO R9s has taken up 32.8% market share in the price range of between RM1500 – RM2000 in the 1st quarter of 2017, which has clearly shown that the R9s is definitely one of the best-selling products in this price segment.
Due to the immense popularity of the R9s OPPO announced a new colour variant – a Black Edition to offer consumers and O-fans more choice to fit their preferences. This isn’t the first time the company has released a black coloured variant of their devices, they released a limited Black edition of their equally popular F1s back in December of last year. Oh and that one sold out in like – three days.
The OPPO R9s Black Edition features a 16MP front and rear camera, with f/1.7 large aperture and dual PDAF, which allows users to take professional looking photographs on the go. The sleek device also allows five minutes charging to support two hours talk time with its VOOC Flash Charge technology. In addition, the OPPO R9s Black Edition houses front-facing 0.20 seconds fingerprint recognition.
The OPPO R9s Black Edition is available now across the nation at all OPPO Concept Stores and selected dealers at RM1,828. You can also get the device through their partners such as E-Commerce (Lazada and 11Street), electrical chains (Senheng) and their telco partners (Celcom, Maxis and Digi).
Pokdepinion: To be honest, the response the R9s Black Edition is getting from consumers isn’t all that surprising as they’ve got a good fan following (hence, the O-fans). Gotta admit though, the overall sleek black finish of the device is a beaut. If you’re one of the few that’s still not entirely sold on the R9s Black Edition, check out our review of the original. Hopefully that’ll help you decide.
