At the official opening ceremony in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur today, the Razer Malaysia Headquarters has officially opened for business. There are over 280 employees that will now be based in the Razer Malaysia Headquarters located at The Vertical, Bangsar South. The investment in this new headquarters marks the rising significance of Malaysia to Razer’s ecosystem growth.

Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan said:

We will be investing in Malaysia as a hub for our fintech efforts in Southeast Asia. It is the first country in the world to be ready for Razer Pay and we see the headquarters as a natural springboard for our fintech efforts in the region.

Previously, the Razer Pay eWallet was launched, allowing consumers to enjoy cashless payments in a wide variety of shops and restaurants including 7-Eleven, Kenny Rogers Roasters, and Starbucks Coffee. This month, the eWallet has expanded with new features including in-app coupons, instant messaging, and an improved overall experience.

Stemming from the new office opening, merchants operating in Bangsar South have started accepting Razer Pay. There is said to be some rewards programs being offered now from the merchants, including coupons and flash sales.

Interestingly, there are talks with the UOA Group on integrating their car park payment system into Razer Pay. This would make the parking payments become cashless and therefore, hassle-free. We might even see more car park payment systems being integrated into the eWallet in the future.

The opening of the Razer Malaysia Headquarters is a major step for the company towards contributing to the country’s eSports industry. With them being the official partner for the upcoming 2019 SEA Games, they will be looking to coordinate with industry partners to drivve gaming events in Malaysia, bring the gaming community together, and to support Team Malaysia at the SEA Games.

Aside from that, they are also looking to help nurture talents in Malaysia. They are looking to collaborate with institutions of higher education to provide training, mentorship programs, and exchange programs across their regional offices.

Apart from this, we are told to keep our eyes and ears peeled as this is only the beginning, and there will be more for them to share in the near future.

Pokdepinion: Didn’t think they would actually open an HQ here but lo an behold, here we are. Their office is pretty big, but we’ve yet to see the full place due to the decorations for the grand opening event.
