Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 – The perfect tablet?

Samsung Malaysia Electronics has finally announced that the latest edition to their tablet lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will finally be available in Malaysia. First revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Spain earlier this year, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 (whew that’s quite a mouthful!) comes equipped with a new S Pen designed to feel and write like your favourite ball pen, the Galaxy Tab S3 delivers versatile usage as a productivity tool, without needing to recharge.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 features a 9.7 inch Super AMOLED display with an eye-popping 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3’s display also supports HDR video content and 4K video playback that promises a fantastic viewing experience with bright and vivid images. The snappers featured on the Galaxy Tab S3 ain’t no slouch either with a 13MP rear camera with auto focus and a 5MP front facing camera for all your selfie needs.

A peak under the hood reveals a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor (2.15GHz + 1.6GHz), 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB via an external microSD card. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 also houses a 6000 mAh battery that supports quick charging via USB Type C. The Galaxy Tab S3 also runs Android 7.0 right out of the box.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 aims to be your one-stop entertainment centre with a lot of emphasis being put on the tablet’s entertainment features. The Galaxy Tab S3 is highly optimised for gaming as the tablet comes Vulkan API for superior graphics and the new Game Launcher for an enhanced user interface and personalised gaming experience, as well as modes like ‘Do Not Disturb’ for uninterrupted gameplay.

Samsung also included Samsung Flow with the Galaxy Tab S3 as a security measure. Samsung Flow uses biometric authentication to log-in and can wirelessly tether compatible devices to transfer documents from a mobile device to a tablet. It also syncs message notifications so users will never miss an important text message, whether they are using a smartphone or their tablet – making working on the go seamless.

Samsung is also offering a separate Pogo Keyboard Cover to complete the device’s stylish design. The Pogo Keyboard Cover comes in Gray colour and retails at RM499.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is available at Samsung Experience Stores nationwide and authorised dealers starting from 1st June 2017. It’ll also be available for purchase online from Lazada and 11street. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 retails at a hefty RM2,999.

Pokdepinion: While I think Samsung’s new tablet is an amazing device with pretty awesome specifications, I think Samsung is truly bonkers because nobody’s gonna fork out 3 grand just to get an Android tablet. Especially when you know the tablet market isn’t as huge as it was before and whatever’s left is dominated by the iPad but hey, what do I know.
