The vivo V7+ which has been teased over here in Malaysia has already been announced and available for pre-orders over in India. Through the announcement at India, we have a rough idea of what to expect in terms of specifications and pricing once it arrives here in Malaysia on the 26th of September.

The highlight of the vivo V7+ has got to be the FullView display, which is the 5.99″ 18:9 1440×720 18:9 IPS panel that takes up the front of the device. This allows vivo to join LG and Samsung with their extra-wide displays, albeit the screen packing a much lower resolution compared to those offered by the Korean brands.

The octa-core Snapdragon 450 in the vivo V7+ is a good choice by vivo, as it is a pretty recent design manufactured on the 14nm FinFET process. This should ensure that the smartphone will feature pretty decent battery life with its 3225 mAh battery. Charging will be through a microUSB 2.0 port, an oddity considering that vivo has decided to use such a modern display here. You will also be getting 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage, rather standard stuff by now. The vivo V7+ runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, but with vivo’s track record with updates, that might very well be the last Android version you are getting.

Camera wise, you will be getting a 16MP f/2.0 rear shooter featuring PDAF accompanied by a higher resolution 24MP f/2.0 front camera with soft LED flash. Despite featuring only a single camera, the vivo V7+ comes with a portrait mode to blur out your backgrounds, for better emphasis on your subjects.

The vivo V7+ will also carry on vivo’s focus on HiFi audio with a AK4376A DAC under the hood. Something which is often overlooked is the SIM tray configuration, which the vivo V7+ nails with the ability to accommodate two nanoSIMs and a microSD card, all at the same time. The vivo V7+ will measure 7.7mm thin, weigh 160g and be available in Matte Black and Champagne Gold in India. It is currently on pre-order priced at Rs 21990 (~RM1442), with availability by 15th September.

Pokdepinion: It’s nice to see vivo using Snapdragon chipsets once again. The design of the vivo V7+ may be rather derivative, but that is not something new for Chinese brands anyway. But more importantly, if the vivo V7+ arrives here in Malaysia with a sub-RM1500 price tag, we may see it sell faster than hot cakes.
