Sony has announced the availability information for the upcoming Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, featuring planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link connectivity into a speaker form factor – while it works best with PS5, it can work on PC or Mac desktop setups, and can also be used with a PlayStation Portal remote player or smartphone.
Sony Pulse Elevate Speakers
Each speaker uses “studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers” to deliver audio, Sony says – unlike most audio gear that features dynamic drivers, planar magnetic drivers tend to deliver better sound detail and frequency range, which is why it’s often found in high-end hardware. They come with built-in woofers to provide additional bass response.
On PS5, the driver is designed to enhance audio positioning in games via Sony’s proprietary Tempest 3D AudioTech. A microphone onboard the right speaker enables voice chat without a separate headset, with AI-enhanced noise reduction to filter background noise during communication.
Connectivity-wise, Pulse Elevate uses PlayStation Link for low-latency, lossless connectivity with compatible devices including PS5, PC, Mac, and PlayStation Portal; they also support Bluetooth for simultaneous audio from a PlayStation Link-connected device and a separate Bluetooth device. A PlayStation Link USB adapter compatible with USB-C ports is also included.
The speakers include a built-in rechargeable battery for portable use with PlayStation Portal or smartphones via Bluetooth, along with included charging docks for desktop setups. Volume controls are built into the speakers, and they can be easily adjusted for the “ideal horizontal and vertical orientation” based on a user’s desktop setup. Additional audio settings such as EQ, sidetone, volume, and mic mute can be adjusted through PS5 system menus, with PC options available after launch.
The Sony Pulse Elevate wireless speakers will launch on 12 November 2026, with a recommended retail price of RM1,099. Pre-orders will be available starting 2 September 2026 through local retailers, with two available colors to choose from: Midnight Black and White.
Pokdepinion: People use headset mics for a reason, so I have my reasonable doubts on how well this would deal with voice pickup across a desk’s length.
