ASUS has announced the new ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor dual-band Wi-Fi 7 router, which features increased weather protection to provide wireless connectivity for IoT devices and usage in open spaces.

ASUS ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor

The ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor is claimed to deliver up to 3600Mbps (688+2882Mbps) and supports 4K-QAM and Multi-Link Operation (MLO) as part of Wi-Fi 7 standard, though it does lack the 320MHz and tri-band capability found in high-end Wi-Fi 7 routers; it also features 128MB flash and 512MB RAM onboard. The router is compatible with ASUS’s AiMesh ecosystem of routers, which – when paired with other compatible ASUS-branded routers – allows network coverage of up to 2,530 square feet.

For its durability, the router is IP65-rated for water and dust resistance, and can operate in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 60°C, while electrostatic discharge and surge protection is designed to protect against lightning strikes. It comes with dual 2.5GbE Power over Ethernet+ (PoE+) input ports with auto WAN detection, and it can also be powered via an AC adapter. Mounting options include wall, pole, or flat surface configurations.

ASUS says the ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor includes “commercial-grade” AiProtection Pro security suite, along with parental controls, and built-in support for multiple VPN services. The Smart Home Master Network feature allows users to create up to three SSIDs for managing specific device groups such as security cameras and other IoT hardware. No availability details is given at this time, though the company says this will be announced at a later date.
