Late last year, AMD was spotted shipping two variants of its upcoming Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series processors: the 16-core and 96-core model, presumably covering either ends of the lineup. For those unfamiliar, the Ryzen Threadripper lineup is designed for HEDT (high-end desktop) PCs, offering expanded I/O capabilities for multi-GPU or storage-heavy setups.

More Ryzen Threadrippers Spotted

According to the NBD shipping database (spotted by @Olrak29_ on X/Twitter), the most recently spotted chips in the Ryzen Threadripper 9000 lineup (codenamed Shimada Peak) is the 32-core and 64-core variants, on top of the 16-core and 96-core variants spotted previously. That makes it four known models for the upcoming lineup – for reference, Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series only has three models: 24-, 32-, and 64-core variants; its PRO counterpart meanwhile gets 12-, 16-, and 96-core versions as well.

It’s likely that all models in the Ryzen Threadripper 9000 lineup will feature 350W of TDP, with similar specifications as the predecessors – as a result, these chips should be a drop-in upgrade for existing TRX50 motherboards. As observed with desktop counterparts, the I/O die is expected to remain, so PCIe lanes and various I/O specs should be exactly the same as well.

In any case, AMD is likely to announce the new lineup sometime this year, as the previous generation is more than a year old and is almost due for upgrades. Don’t expect these chips to come cheap, especially given that there is very little competition coming from Intel for this particular segment.
