AMD’s new Ryzen AI 300 series is still relatively small thus far, having only introduced a handful of SKUs by this point. While rumors of Ryzen AI Max (Strix Halo) is swirling, on the other end of the Ryzen AI spectrum comes the “Krackan” lineup, one of which is recently discovered on Geekbench database.
6-Core AMD “Krackan” CPU Spotted

The benchmark listing reveals what looks like an ASUS laptop running on a 6-core variant of the Krackan chip, the codename designated for AMD’s mainstream laptop chip under its Ryzen AI 300 lineup. Note that the entry lists two clusters: 3+3 cores. (Anyone remember the unique Phenom X3 tri-core processors?) Knowing Ryzen AI’s core arrangement, this chip in question is likely comprised of three Zen 5 cores, along with three smaller Zen 5c cores, totaling 6 cores and 12 threads.
Videocardz deciphered the OPN identifier code (100-000001600-40) and deduced that this could be sold as the Ryzen AI 5 340. This is likely a very low end model for the Ryzen AI 300 lineup, given its core count (4-core is unlikely for a product line as new as Ryzen AI 300); but AI capabilities will remain the same as its higher-end counterparts with the exception of Ryzen AI 9 HX 375.
AMD has confirmed that Krackan will launch in early 2025, so it’s likely that we will see the lineup as soon as CES 2025 kicks off next January.
Pokdepinion: Looks like new mainstream-class laptops will be using this one.
