We may soon get to see AMD the X3D variants of the Ryzen 9000 series pretty soon, as leaker ‘zhangzhonghao’ has claimed that Team Red “should be” launching the Ryzen 7 9800X3D at the end of October this year.

Ryzen 7 9800X3D Coming Soon?

However, one more interesting tidbit from this information can be seen in the leaker’s full quote:

TITLE: 9800X3D Should Be Launching By End Of October

This time 9950X3D and 9900X3D will be adding some new stuffs so they won’t be launching alongside the 9800X3D, I guess it’s going to be [released] early next year

If this is indeed correct, this means we will only be seeing one chip come this October. Besides that, the leaker has obtained information from GIGABYTE’s X870 event held recently, and here’s what they have to say:

[Replying to twfox: “If all is launched this year, what’s left for next year? Just look at 7800X3D and 7950X3D, it won’t be this soon!”]

It’s not just me saying this, AMD’s officials have already stated such – the AMD guys that attended GIGABYTE’s X870 event. Also, this year it’s really just the 9800X3D; 9950X3D and 9900X3D has to wait until next year because of new stuffs.

It’s worth noting that the exact launch date is challenged by another leaker Hoang Ang Phu, who claims that 9800X3D will be launching in November instead. Still, it’s possible the end of October may be referring to the announcement date, and AMD definitely wants to hype the product up first given its very underwhelming Ryzen 9000 launch. Besides that, the launch date may end up very close to Intel’s upcoming Arrow Lake desktop launch, so it’s likely a marketing tactic to steal Team Blue’s limelight.

Further down the discussion, another leaker ‘Wjm47196’ also claimed that the Ryzen 7 chip will not be overclockable, contrary to previous claims. Officially, AMD does claim that the new X3D lineup will see new features, though nothing exact was specified at the time.

Pokdepinion: I can see why AMD may want to get the X3D as soon as Intel comes up with their answer to Zen 5 – doesn’t help that Ryzen 9000 non-X3D has been underwhelming so far.
