While AMD is getting ready to launch its Zen 5-powered Ryzen 9000 series processors soon, not much news has come out of Team Blue regarding its equivalent, Arrow Lake (Core Ultra 200 series). Leaker @9550pro on X (Twitter) alleged that sales for Intel’s upcoming desktop lineup will only begin in December.

Arrow Lake Needs To Wait

This claim is further corroborated by another leaker @jaykihn0, whose sources reported that Arrow Lake will enter QS (qualification sample) phase of the launch by week 40 of this year, which points to September 30th to October 6th. Under this phase, processors are nearly complete and are provided to OEMs to design specific BIOS for their devices, which usually takes between three to four months before launch.

This meant Arrow Lake will launch at a much later date in year compared to its predecessors. For reference, previous two generations of desktop Intel chips were launch in October of their respective years, though Alder Lake (12th Gen) notably was launched later in November 2021. The launch should see the K-series (overclockable) chips debut first, followed by non-K series that adhere to standard 65W/125W TDP limits in the early following year, usually at CES.

As a side note, the lineup for Arrow Lake desktop was recently revealed, which confirmed three overclockable chips: Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K, and Core Ultra 5 245K. They are accompanied by listings of non-overclockable counterparts, as well as Lunar Lake – its laptop-bound cousin.

Pokdepinion: That’s quite late compared to previous years. Plenty of time for AMD to steal the show this time.
