Intel Core i9-14900KS Has Been Delidded, Pulls 432W In Overclocking

If there is an award to be given to the most leaked hardware in the past month, the Intel Core i9-14900KS takes the crown without contest. Hopefully, this will be the last round of leaks – as Videocardz reported that the chip will be officially revealed on March 14.
As reported by the outlet, an overclocker who goes by the name “pakhtunov” (who brought you this leak earlier this week) on Overclock.net forums has taken the chip for a series of benchmark runs, including delidding the chip to replace the stock IHS with liquid metal for increased heat conductivity (which converts to better scores). The system is cooled via the DeepCool LS720 SE AIO with a 360mm radiator.
Two benchmark tools were used in this test, namely Cinebench and Y-cruncher. The former sees the chip pushed to 85°C at its highest, pulling 376 watts; delidded run has significantly dropped the temperature by 10°C less, and a small drop in power draw (now 366W) has been observed as well. Y-cruncher is more demanding of the silicon, causing the Core i9 to pull 432W while reaching 89°C, though liquid metal has dropped that to 409W and 82°C respectively.
One thing to note, these attempts are run with modified settings aside from the modded hardware. All P-cores are locked to 5.9GHz, while Hyper-Threading is turned off. So take these results with a bit of salt if you will, since it may not be representative of the chip’s true performance. That said, the KS-series is mostly a collector’s item, or the overclocker’s dream – when the chip launches next week, you can expect new world records to go along with it.
Pokdepinion: Let’s see if 9.1GHz is on the agenda this time around. If the next-gen architecture doesn’t clock as high, this is probably it.
