Leaks Claim Intel 14th Gen CPUs Launching Between 17 To 23 October 2023

Chinese media outlet ECSM has dropped more info on Intel’s upcoming launch plans – some of which involves the upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh (RPL-R) chips. The launch is set on Week 42, which range from 17 to 23 October this year – with only the K-series products. Non-K models will follow on Week 1 of 2024, which coincides with the annual CES event where it’s common for chipmakers (including Intel) to release new lineups.

The post also noted the existence of 8P+12E model which they assume will be designated as Core i7-14700K. This unique core configuration meant that existing motherboards, which is set to support the entire 14th Gen lineup, will require a firmware update for it to work on that specific chip. Others meanwhile will work right away given the latest BIOS installed.

Meanwhile, the future Arrow Lake lineup will see a new line of motherboards designated 800 series (which includes Z890, B860 and H810), however the post has pointed out that there’s no timeline available for the chip’s release, and that H870 is “seemingly” not making into the final lineup.

Finally, the post mentions a small bit of info on Team Red’s side. The upcoming “Storm Peak” (Ryzen 7000 Threadripper HEDT) is launching in Q4 this year, paired with two new chipsets. It’s unclear what that might be given that Threadrippers only had a single chipset for all preceding generations, with 1st/2nd gen TR matching X399 and 3rd gen using the newer TRX40 chipset. The next generation does not feature consumer versions, as Ryzen 5000 only features workstation Threadripper Pro models.

Pokdepinion: With more information we’re getting, suffice to say Intel 14th Gen is happening soon.
