With AMD gearing up for the launch of Radeon RX 9070 series sometime next month, a recent marketing material released by the chipmaker has confirmed that the rendered model of the purported “reference model” is exactly that – an artistic render. Hence, the GPUs will only be available through third-party AIB offerings.

No MBA Card For Radeon RX 9070 GPUs

AMD has produced many generations of reference models referred as “MBA” (Made by AMD), including several models under the Radeon RX 7000 series; however, in a recent marketing post posted on X (Twitter), the footnote in the image reads: “Artistic Render. Not Available for Purchase.”

While it’s a tad unfortunate that MBA models aren’t available this time around, you should be able to buy third-party cards with MSRP pricing, scalpers notwithstanding – these are models without factory overclocks, with adequate cooling just enough to cool the card with reasonable noise levels. Given that this is a “delayed” launch, one can expect the stock should be sufficient for most AIB partners to meet the customer demand, as NVIDIA is struggling with stock issues for its RTX 50 series cards.

AMD will be formally announcing the RX 9070 series GPUs in February 28th, 8AM EST (9PM Malaysian Time), so expect more details to be revealed on the new RDNA4 architecture, along with associated software technologies.

Pokdepinion: It really looks like this is a “stopgap” generation, with relatively limited resources dedicated to RDNA4.
