We finally have the first confirmed information of the model names AMD will be using for its upcoming RDNA4-powered lineup, based on the company’s ROCm code. As discovered by @johnnync13, two names are referenced, which includes “RX 8800” and “RX 8600”.
RX 8800 & RX 8600 Referenced
Here’s what is known about RDNA4 overall thus far: it will feature two silicon, Navi 48 and Navi 44, with the former being the high end model (like RX 8800) while the latter will act as the lower-end counterpart. These two silicon variants should then spawn several models across the range, likely with ‘XT’ or even ‘GRE’ moniker to differentiate between them.
Videocardz also mentions that the only known configuration so far is one with 3,584 stream processors (56 Compute Units), which is slightly lower than the current RX 7800 XT’s specs (it has 3,840). In any case, we won’t likely be getting much more beyond this as AMD has skipped the enthusiast segment for this generation to better focus its resources for mid-range and high-end GPU markets.
Meanwhile, information has reportedly emerged from Seasonic’s own PSU wattage calculator indicating that the new RX 8800 XT will use 220W of TDP. That’s 43 watts lower than its supposed predecessor, but this alone is hard to gauge the GPU’s performance, so we’ll have to wait until more information is available.
