The Nissan Kicks e-Power has made its long-awaited debut in Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024. This hybrid crossover SUV comes in three variants: VL, VLT, and the premium two-tone VLT, offering a blend of advanced hybrid technology, fuel efficiency, and comprehensive safety features.
Nissan Kicks e-Power
At the heart of the Nissan Kicks e-Power is a 129 PS/280 Nm electric motor, driven by a 2.06 kWh battery. This system is supported by an 82 PS/103 Nm 1.2-litre HR12DE three-cylinder petrol engine, which functions exclusively as a generator, ensuring the vehicle operates with electric drive efficiency.
The hybrid SUV delivers:
- 0-100 km/h acceleration in 9.5 seconds.
- Quick mid-range performance, achieving 100-120 km/h in just 4 seconds.
- Impressive fuel efficiency of 21.7 km/l, offering a range of up to 900 km with its 41-litre fuel tank.
Drivers can choose between Normal, Sport, and Eco modes, with an e-Pedal Step function for single-pedal driving. A limited EV mode enables petrol-free operation at speeds up to 40 km/h for 2.5 km, ideal for short commutes or parking.
Comprehensive Safety and Technology
The entry-level VL variant is well-equipped with features such as:
- Full LED lighting and 17-inch alloy wheels.
- Comfortable fabric “zero gravity” seats.
- A 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Seven airbags, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking (AEB).
The VLT trim enhances the package with:
- Premium leather upholstery.
- A 360-degree around-view monitor and intelligent rear-view mirror.
- Advanced driver aids like active cruise control, blind spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.
- A stylish two-tone option, featuring a black roof paired with various exterior colourways.

The Nissan Kicks e-Power is priced as follows:
- RM113,800 for the VL variant.
- RM121,800 for the VLT variant.
- RM125,800 for the two-tone VLT.
Buyers enjoy a five-year/100,000 km warranty and an extended eight-year/160,000 km warranty for hybrid components. Early customers can also benefit from a RM5,000 rebate and a 10-year/160,000 km EV warranty for added peace of mind.
Pokdepinion: I would have preferred a bigger screen as the interior now looks a bit outdated but hey, maybe the car itself might be worth something. Maybe we’ll find out sooner or later if we drive it out so stay tuned.
