ASUS ROG Unveils Additional Intel Z790 Motherboard Lineup
ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has unveiled four new Intel Z790 motherboards: the ROG Maximus Z790 Formula, the ROG Maximus Z790 Apex Encore, the ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi II, and the ROG Strix Z790-F Gaming WiFi II, following the launch of three Z790 models (ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero, the ROG Strix Z790-A Gaming WiFi II, and the TUF Gaming Z790-Pro WiFi) in the Gamescom event earlier this year.
In line with Intel 14th Gen’s launch, these motherboard retains the same Z790 chipset launched alongside 13th Gen CPUs last year, albeit with some updates on the peripheral features – including Wi-Fi 7, accompanied by ASUS WiFi Q-Antenna designed to “greatly improves signal throughput for the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands.” The new antenna design also does away with screw-in mechanism, and instead uses a plug-style connector for easier setup.
Furthermore, the ROG Maximus and ROG Strix Z790 motherboards incorporate the new “DIMM Flex” feature to optimize memory performance based on thermal headroom, which should help improving performance in memory-sensitive applications. ASUS claims this enables +16% in average FPS compared to standard XMP profile.
The ROG Maximus Z790 Formula, as with previous Formula models, comes with integrated VRM cooling block (though it can run with passive cooling as well), a 2-inch OLED display on the primary SSD heatsink. It also comes with a higher-end Realtek 5GbE LAN and the same Wi-Fi 7 found in other motherboards launched today.
Meanwhile, the ROG Maximus Z790 Apex Encore – successor to the Z790 Apex – will take its place to potentially break more overclocking records; the Z790 Apex was the first motherboard to enable the Core i9-13900K to breach the 9GHz mark for the first time ever, and breaking the decade-old AMD FX-8350 world record in the process.
The ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi II offers PCIe 5.0 compatibility a wide array of creature comforts, such as 30W USB-PD support; while the ROG Strix Z790-F Gaming WiFi II is a more cost-effective option. It retains many features of the Z790-E but lacks PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots, and less 10Gbps USB ports as well.

Pokdepinion: Evidently, they’re mostly not cheap. Though the amount of features you get from them is probably right up there.
